    Background & Challenge

    A roadside assistance company in Saudi Arabia required 10 units of mobile energy storage EV charging stations to support emergency charging services for electric vehicles in different operating environments.

    The customer faced a limited project budget but still needed maximum charging compatibility. Their requirement was for each charging unit to support both CCS2 and GB/T charging standards in order to serve different EV models on the road.

    Initially, the customer considered a dual-gun CCS2 + GB/T configuration. However, modifying the standard product structure would significantly increase manufacturing complexity, lead time, and overall project cost.

    The Solution

    Hefei KED Charging Technology Co., Ltd. provided a more flexible and cost-effective solution based on its standard 100kWh–90kW mobile energy storage charging platform.

    Instead of redesigning the charger structure into a dual-gun CCS2 + GB/T system, KED recommended maintaining the standard single-gun CCS2 configuration while equipping each unit with a CCS2-to-GB/T charging adapter.

    This solution provided several advantages:

    • Preserved the reliability and structure of the standard product
    • Reduced manufacturing and customization costs
    • Avoided structural modifications and additional engineering complexity
    • Enabled flexible charging compatibility for both CCS2 and GB/T vehicles
    • Simplified future maintenance and spare parts management

    The adapter-based solution allowed the customer to switch charging standards depending on the vehicle interface type during roadside rescue operations.

    Results & Impact

    The project successfully balanced charging compatibility and cost control for the customer’s roadside assistance operations.
